HiWiFi firmware downgrade tutorial
Some people accidentally upgraded their firmware and want to downgrade, so here is the easiest way to do it. This tutorial supports HiWiFi 1S (HC5661 and HC5661A), HiWiFi 2 (HC5761 and HC5761A), and HiWiFi 3 (HC5861). First, confirm your HiWiFi model. Look at the text after the system version at the bottom of the router's admin interface; for example, mine is HC5861. Different models require different firmware, so check carefully—flashing the wrong firmware could brick your router.
To download the firmware for your model, use http://ur.ikcd.net/, followed by the firmware filename. For example: http://ur.ikcd.net/HC5861-sysupgrade-20160329-237e70c2.bin
-
- Disconnect the router's power and the Ethernet cable from the WAN port.
- Use a pointed object to hold down RESET on the HiWiFi router, then connect its power without releasing RESET.
- Release RESET after 4–6 seconds. Connect your computer's Ethernet cable to any LAN port on the router and set the local connection to obtain an IP automatically. The gateway IP will become 192.168.2.1.

-
- Enter 192.168.2.1 in your browser to access the firmware-flashing page in the new version.

-
- Select the firmware you downloaded.

-
- Once the firmware has uploaded successfully, click Start Recovery in the admin interface. Log in to the router to automatically upload and flash the firmware.

-
- The router is now restoring the firmware.
P.S. If this screen still has not redirected after more than five minutes, check the default gateway. If it has changed to 192.168.199.1, you can close the page and open the admin interface to configure it. If it is still 192.168.2.1, try the steps above again.
-
- When recovery finishes, the admin interface opens the first-time setup guide. Flashing is complete.
